Year 9 - Ceramics Coiled Pots
These rounded pots were constructed from successive layers of thick coils joined together and smoothed. Once dried, the pots were burnished to make them more even. Designs were painted onto the pots with underglare colours and a lid was added, using an element of the painted design to create a sculptured handle. The finished pot was either left, or covered with a clear glaze.
