At Vermont Secondary College we provide our students with a learning environment that prepares them for the challenges of the 21st century.

The college is committed to the development of lifelong learning skills that motivate and enable all students to achieve their goals and make a positive contribution to the global community. The challenge is that the 21st century is increasingly complex, global and networked. The educational imperative is to improve young people’s ability to thrive and think critically in an information rich world. 1:1 learning enables students to learn independently, collaborate with peers and communicate their understanding using varied and exciting media. Digital technologies are integral to students’ lifestyles, behaviours and character formation.

Laptop Program at VSC

Why Choose a VSC-Recommended Laptop?

To support a consistent and reliable learning experience, Vermont Secondary College recommends families purchase student laptops through our School Laptop Portal, managed by Learning With Technologies (LWT).

These education-focused devices are selected to align with the College’s digital learning environment and support processes. They also offer several advantages compared to standard retail laptops.

Key Differences: School Portal vs. Retail Laptops
Feature LWT Education Model (School Portal) Retail Model (Officeworks, JB Hi-Fi, etc.)
Operating System Windows 11 Pro (supports school login and management) Windows 11 Home (not compatible with school login)
Warranty 3-Year Onsite Education Warranty 12-Month Manufacturer Warranty
Accidental Damage Cover 1 incident included (from 2025 onwards) Not included – must be purchased separately
Hardware Repairs Managed by certified LWT technicians Families responsible for arranging and managing repairs

New for 2025: Built-in Accidental Damage Coverage

Beginning in 2025, all laptops purchased through the VSC Laptop Portal will include one accidental damage claim as part of Lenovo’s 3-Year Education Warranty — at no extra cost.

This coverage includes:

  • Cracked screens
  • Liquid spills
  • Accidental drops

Previously, families needed to opt in for this protection at purchase. From 2025, it will be automatically included, helping to reduce unexpected repair costs.

Warranty vs. Accidental Damage: What is the Difference?

Warranty Covers – Manufacturing faults such as faulty keyboards, non-responsive ports, and battery issues etc.

Accidental Damage Covers – Physical damage caused by drops, spills, or cracked screens are now automatically included for one incident on all Education Models purchased from 2025.

Why This Matters

Purchasing a laptop through the School Portal helps to:

  • Align with the College’s laptop program and ensure compatibility with school systems and Department of Education platforms
  • Provide streamlined support, with LWT technicians visiting the school once or twice each week
  • Minimise classroom disruptions through faster, on-site repairs

Retail laptops may require off-site servicing, which can result in extended downtime and interruptions to learning.
