Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program

Vision Statement

At Vermont Secondary College we provide our students with a learning environment that prepares them for the challenges of the 21st century.
The college is committed to the development of lifelong learning skills that motivate and enable all students to achieve their goals and make a positive contribution to the global community. The challenge is that the 21st century is increasingly complex, global and networked. The educational imperative is to improve young people’s ability to thrive and think critically in an information rich world. 1:1 learning enables students to learn independently, collaborate with peers and communicate their understanding using varied and exciting media. Digital technologies are integral to students’ lifestyles, behaviours and character formation.

Implementation of New Laptop Program

Starting in 2021 the laptop program is being rolled out over three years so that by 2023 all students in the College will have a Laptop to enhance the learning program available to them.

2021 – Year 7 and Year 10 - 12 students will require a laptop (Students in Year 8 & 9 are not required to bring a laptop and may continue to use their iPads until they need to replace their device.)

2022 – Year 7, 8 and Year 10 -12 students will require a laptop (Students in Year 9 are not required to bring a laptop and may continue to use their iPads until they need to replace their device).

2023 – All students will require a laptop.

Vermont Secondary College BYOD Program

Vermont Secondary College has entered into a partnership with Learning with Technologies. Our BYOD laptop program will provide students in all years with improved access to learning technologies, online learning and a collaborative learning environment, specifically through the use of Microsoft Office products.

The laptop will be used in classrooms as a companion device in conjunction with our existing technology. In 2021 all Year 7 students will be required to purchase a Laptop.
