Our Students are able to pursue their interests though participation in the various co-curricular activities and programs. The College production, sport, camps and music programs allow our students to develop their passions, as well as their time management, teamwork and self confidence.
Year Level Camps offer students engaging experiences while enabling them to learn about themselves and others. From the bush community at Marysville in Year 7, to the modern City Experience in Year 8, to the fantastic activities and surfing available at the Phillip Island Adventure Resort in Year 9, each year students are personally challenged and will gain lifelong skills and friendships as a result. In the Senior School, Year 10 students are selected to embark on an exciting tour of Central Australia, including Uluru, Alice Springs and Darwin. In Year 11, there is the opportunity to don scarves and jackets, and partake in the Ski Camp at Mt Buller. Students in Year 12 have a short overnight stay at the University of Melbourne, where they are mentored and taught by inspirational ex-VCE students to develop the mental discipline, focus and stamina necessary to perform well in the all-important final academic year.
Vermont Secondary College offers an outstanding instrumental music program. It has been well established that children benefit from learning a musical instrument and we endeavour to provide the environment under which every student can explore their musical potential. Students can chose from a wide range of instruments to learn in a weekly lesson with a highly experienced teacher. They also take part in a vibrant and diverse ensemble program. Our program values dedication, participation and developing individual strengths.
At Vermont Secondary College, we offer a range of Drama core and elective subjects from Year 7-12 designed to develop dramatic skills and techniques such as the use of voice, gesture and movement, use of performance space and stagecraft, script-writing and script interpretation, as well as being a receptive audience member. In addition to this we have extra-curricular programs such as the Annual School Production which provides students with an additional opportunity to extend their performance and stagecraft skills outside of the classroom and present to the wider school community.
Vermont Secondary College has a long history of excellence in Sport and we encourage all students to participate in the Sport Program over the course of the year.
The college participates in the School Sport Victoria competitions in the Waverley Division, the Eastern Metropolitan Region and State levels.
Vermont Secondary College has been extremely successful over many years, winning the majority of Swimming, Athletics and Cross Country championships in the Waverley Division. Interest and participation in these events is always high, showing the dedication, enthusiasm and values for sport that VSC has.
Exchanges and Tours
With current travel restriction due to COVID 19 we are currently not organising any overseas exchanges or tours. However, normally each year a number of our students spend time overseas in destinations such as France, Germany and the United States as participants in a variety of Exchange and Language programs. The College also hosts overseas students on exchange to Australia.
